A look inside my internship

I tried to write this post all summer but never got around to it. I now have time to finish it because I am finally settled back in New Orleans! Be on the lookout for a post about my new dorm room soon!

If you’ve talked to me at some point within the past few months, then you’ve probably heard at least a little bit about my internship this summer at CROSBY by Mollie Burch. I had been looking forward to this experience all year and now it’s hard to believe that I’m finished and back at school.  I had way more fun than I thought I could, and I had high expectations to begin with.

One of the best parts of the internship, was that I get to work with my best friend, Emma. We were so lucky to get to spend every day together and that we never got tired of each other! Here is an outline of a typical day for us:

7:00 am text to Emma: What’re you wearing?

7:15 am reply from Emma: idk, are you looking cute?

Once we decide if we are going to put on real clothes or not, we get ready. Emma usually swung by my house around 8:30 (unless we are working a photoshoot and need to be there earlier) to pick me up. We had a pretty diverse music selection every morning (it included anything from Stevie Wonder to Natasha Bedingfield), but it always started off with “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher” by Jackie Wilson. This upbeat song is the best sing-along to get your blood pumping in the early hours of the morning.

After stopping at Starbucks along the way, we usually got to the office around 9:45; we liked to arrive early, grab a nice parking spot, and start the day off on the right foot.

What we did once we got there changed from day to day. Emma and I have had to do anything, from arguing with alterations people about misplaced garments to researching future style trends, helping with photoshoots to creating a look book for future collections. One of our favorite experiences was working for Reeves & Company  at the Atlanta Mart. Our summer internship was the perfect experience because we got to see every aspect of what goes on behind the scenes in a small fashion label. Our bosses, Mollie and Abby, really spoiled us with different tasks each day. We learned a ton and things never got repetitive.

At some point during the day, we would grab lunch. Emma and I were lucky that Mollie and Abby appreciate lunch as much as we do. We always tried out different restaurants because there were so many options due to our convenient location along the Atlanta BeltLine. My personal favorite was the Spring Salad from Sean’s cafe (with a side of cheese grits, of course). Ponce City Market also had some wonderful options for lunch. My favorite treat was always a chocolate sea salt popsicle dipped in chocolate from King of Pops. Can you tell that I love chocolate?

After lunch, Emma and I would always finish up whatever task we had for the day, then leave around 5 to head home. We were lucky if we timed it right and beat the horrendous ATL traffic.

I can’t help but smile every time that I look back on my summer spent with CROSBY. Check out their Fall Collection that just became available in stores and online!
